What courses to study?
As an overseas student, you can study various courses in Australia, provided you have met the entry requirement of the universities or colleges as well as that of the Department of Immigration and Citizenship for a student visa.
How do I know if the course is a legitimate course?
Every valid course should have a CRICOS code, and the school/college/university should have a CRICOS provider code. Click to read the CRICOS explanation.
How can I apply for a Student Visa?
Depending on which country you come from, you have certain criteria to meet before you can be granted a student visa. This is determined by the Assessment Level (AL) under which you are to be assessed. How do I find student accommodation?
Generally, you have a few choices of accommodation to choose from:
Student housing/ Boarding
Once you have enrolled into a course, this can be organised for you by the university/college at an application fee of around $200. Weekly housing fee is around $120-$150 (room only) and around $200-$300 (room & meals). This is a guide only and is subject to variations from university to university.
Homestay
Enjoy being part of an Australian family and experience our unique lifestyle and culture. Once you have enrolled into a course, this can be organised for you by the university/college at an application fee of around $200. Weekly housing fee is around $120-$150 (room only) and around $185-220 (room & meals). This is a guide only and is subject to variations from city to city and from homestay to homestay.
Flat-sharing/ House-sharing
For flexibility and convenience, you may choose to share a flat or house with a few fellow students that is close to the university or other public facilities. The cost ranges from $60 to $350 per week, depending on the location, the configuration and quality of the flat/house, your sharing pattern (sharing a room, or occupying a single room, or occupying a house to yourself), and other factors. Demi Pair
Some universities or colleges offer demi pair programme, which is designed for students who want to work for and live with an Australian family. It offers students studying full time FREE accommodation and meals in return for 15 hours of work per week.
